This skiving tool helps reduce the thickness of the leather, either on the edge or throughout the whole piece.

Maker's recommendation.

6mm - Good for general narrow-width work.

8mm - This is the best size. 

Only by using this you can feel the best performance of the Palosanto french edger.

10mm - You can work on a wide area without requiring a lot of power and skill.

If you just want to buy something wide, I recommend 10mm, not 12mm.

 

Purchase for a special purpose

4mm - box stitch, 45 degree cutting, Folding part(line)

12mm - It requires a lot of strength and skill. When working with 24mm, it is much faster to work 3 times with 8mm than 2 times with 12mm and the result is higher.

 It is recommended to purchase only those who need 12mm.

The blade part is made of HSS-M2.

Made from high hardness HSS-M2, the sharpness of the blade is long lasting.

The re-sharpening kit is included, allowing the user to re-sharpening easily.

When doing re-sharpening, do not give strength and soften it.

All blades are the same.

The difference in price comes from the difference in price of the handle wood.

There is no difference in performance due to handle type price differences.

Hello.The skiver itself has a good interesting design, an ergonomic handle, quite sharp out of the box, but not razor-like as many say. It needs to be brought to perfect sharpness. My skiver turned out to be a little unsymmetrical at the base near the bolster itself, it’s a bit of a shame as it’s not cheap. If it had been 15 dollars cheaper, there would have been more demand for the product, and perhaps I would have taken another one.

Every Paolosanto tool I have purchased is functionally top notch & aesthetically pleasing. Super sharp out of the box and ships quickly. I purchased the 4,8 & 12 mm and they are fantastic.

If you buy his tools because they are beautiful, you will be happy. If you buy his tools because they cut like a dream, hold an edge & edge maintenance is easy, you will be happy.

I love the lignum vitae wood for these hand tools because ause the wood has a mild perfume that’s wafts into the air while I’m using it. Sweet & floral with earthy undertones, it’s fantastic.
