Scary sharp!

Not the most beautiful knife I own but definitely the sharpest. It's scary sharp out of the box! I would but the large one because the handle is a bit bulky and could get in the way if the knife was less wide.

Japanese Knife, Bubinga handle

This is a 35mm single bevel blade with a good solid wooden handle. The blade length is 65mm and 3-4mm thick. It arrives, as all relevant tools from Palosanto extremely sharp straight out of the box. The bubinga handle 110x20x30 mm approx rectangular shape with rounded corners giving a good grip and easy control. The tool steel maintains its edge well and strops up to a sharp edge again with a few strokes on a leather strop. My only observation is that the handle may benefit from a gentle bevel towards the blade to allow a flatter angle for skiving on thinner leathers but this may just be a result of my own style of working. Overall the tool is worth the money and the shipping timescale. Customer service and communications is excellent and Palosanto go out of their way to work around the global covid restrictions. I will definitely purchase again from this supplier

Quality and Stylish

The knife is perfect. It is sharp right out of the box, the wood is a great color and fits perfectly in your hand, and it cuts through leather like butter. If you have big hands like I do, get the bigger sized blade (I believe 36mm). You will be able to cut more material.
